Very reasonably priced at $20.18, this accurate and small digital scale is good value for money.

The Polder Pocket Size Digital Scale measures in imperial and metric up to 1 lb or 500 grams with increments of 0.005 oz or 0.1 grams, making it very precise. Readings may be inaccurate if you weigh outdoors in the wind.

The scale defaults to grams but you can switch easily from one unit to the other if you prefer imperial.

If ever you need to weigh food exceeding the limit, divide it into two smaller portions.

The tare function allows you to re-set to zero and weigh the food only.

When the tray is turned over, it cleverly doubles as a travel lid which snaps shut and protects the buttons and mechanism.

If you prefer to use plates or bowls instead of the tray, choose light plastic ones. The hold feature helps when using a big plate, but if your plate weighs 1 lb, you are already at the maximum, so using the tray probably works best.

Cover the tray with plastic wrap or a sandwich bag to make washing up easier.

Measuring 4.5 x 3 x 1 inch and weighing 1 lb, the Polder Pocket Size Digital Scale is about the size of a deck of cards, small enough to fit in the palm of your hand, purse or center console of your vehicle, and light enough to carry in your shirt pocket. All in all, ideal to take with you when eating out, travelling or camping.

Well designed and attractive, although it might feel flimsy, it is actually sturdy and surprisingly stable.

The little pads or strips on the lid that doubles as the tray, may come off, in which case re-glue them. They hold the tray in place when weighing, so have no effect on the functioning of the scale.

If the LCD was backlit, it would be easier to read. Ensure you have enough natural or artificial light and you will be fine. The digits are big and easy to read, even without your glasses.

Be prepared for the automatic shut-off, it happens quite quickly.

This scale takes lithium batteries, which you need to replace at most twice a year.

Very easy to operate, this scale is too small to be a kitchen scale, but perfect for individual portions, and things like snacks, protein powder, coffee beans, spices and herbs.

A one year warranty is available for defective parts or workmanship but if you have problems with the scale, Polder seem quite difficult to get hold of. The Polder Pocket Size Digital Scale comes with lithium batteries and is currently only available for shipping within the US.
